Tips for Joining our Career Fair and Job Seeking

Before the Fair

  • Read the Exhibitor List and Job Opening thoroughly
  • Carry out some research on the exhibitors by visiting their websites (including businesses, services, products, and opportunities)
  • Develop some questions to ask the exhibitors (avoid those could be easily obtained from their websites)
  • Prepare your resume to highlight your skills and achievements that match the job requirements
  • Ensure your resume is decent enough for on-site application

  • During the Fair

  • Bring sufficient copies of your resume, certificates, and transcripts for on-site application and/or interview
  • Bring a notepad with paper and pen
  • Dress formally and professionally to impress the potential employers
  • Pay attention to your manner (stand up straight and do not fidget)
  • Establish rapport with exhibitors by smiling and making good eye contact (a firm handshake, if possible)
  • Talk to the exhibitors in the booths wherever possible (instead of just picking up a brochure)
  • Introduce yourself to the exhibitors
  • Make use of your company research and ask questions you have prepared to show your passion and interest
  • Exhibitors may invite you for an interview if they consider you as a suitable candidate
  • Do NOT limit to your own preferred exhibitors. Be open-minded and consider other organizations at the Fair
  • Thank each person you spoke with for his/her time
  • Be polite and humble at all times
  • Collect as much company information as possible, including leaflets and brochures. Read them before attending an interview

  • After the Fair

  • Write a thank you note to the recruiter afterwards if you are given a business card
